Hydrofluoric acid (fluoride + hydroxide) |
| HF (hydrogen fluoride) is a colorless, poisonous and strongly fuming liquid. Normal boiling point at 19.4 oC and density of 0.988 g / mL at 20oC and at one atmosphere. Solidifies at -92.3oC. Anhydrous has no acidic characteristics and is not conducive to electricity, but it is mixed in all proportions with water and its solutions are good conductors. It is used to burn glass because it attacks the silica. |
