| Binary combinations of a halogen with more electropositive elements. They can be divided into two groups: covalent halides and ionic halides. The first one corresponds to the combinations of the halogen with a non-metal, including the combination between two halogens or interhalogen compounds. The seconds occur especially in the combinations of halogen with alkaline or alkaline-earth element. |
