Helium |
| Chemical element of symbol He, belonging to group 18 of the periodic table, of atomic number 2 and atomic mass 4.0026. It is the second most abundant element in the universe. It appears as a colorless, odorless and tasteless monatomic gas. It is very light and the most difficult element to liquefy. Subcooled liquid helium presents the phenomenon of superfluidity and a multiplied thermal conductivity. Chemically it is an inert element, the least reactive of all noble gases. |
