| Binary combinations of hydrogen with another element. There are three types: saline or ionic hydrides, which are formed by the union of hydrogen with a very electropositive element, such as alkaline or alkaline-earth. Metal or interstitial hydrides, which are formed by the union of hydrogen with a transition metal; and covalent hydrides, which are formed by the union of hydrogen with non-metallic elements of the block p. |
