Benzaldehyde |
| Aromatic aldehyde, to which the almonds owe their odor. It is liquid at ordinary temperature, poorly soluble in water and miscible in alcohol and ether. It is obtained by oxidation of toluene and is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of dyes and other products of pharmaceutical application. It is used in perfumery, cosmetics and food as a flavoring. |
