Occlusion |
| Phenomenon by which a gas or a solid is retained in the crystalline structure of a metal. Sometimes intertitic compounds are formed. The occlusion increases with the temperature and pressure of the gas. The term also refers to the absorption of ions from an electrolyte by a precipitate. |
