| Common name for calcium oxide and hydroxide CaO and Ca (OH) 2. Calcium oxide, also called quicklime, is a hygroscopic and corrosive white solid that reacts violently with acids and water. Both types of lime are used in the construction industry, quicklime is used in the production of concrete, in agriculture and in metallurgy. |
