| Chemical element of symbol Pb, belonging to group 14 of the periodic table, of atomic number 82 and atomic mass 207.19. It is a silvery gray metal, soft, ductile and malleable. It is not very tenacious, has a low melting point and is a bad electrical conductor. It is relatively inert. It is used in the manufacture of batteries, in anti-radiation coatings, in the production of optical glasses, in welding and in alloys. |
