It is very light and very stable, only dissociates appreciably at very high temperatures. It is quite inert. It is used as a refrigerant, as an inert atmosphere, in the preservation of food, as a remover of impurities in the electronic industry, in the production of fertilizers, explosives, dyes, ammonia and nitrogenous salts. |
