Mixture |
| Combination of several substances such that the components retain their properties and can be separated by physical methods. If the mixture is formed by a single phase, it is a homogeneous mixture. A solid homogeneous mixture between metals is called an alloy, and if the resulting phase is liquid it is called a solution. If the mixture is formed by more than two phases it is called a heterogeneous mixture, it is not uniform to the subdivision and its components can be seen with the naked eye. |
