| Chemical element is symbol Gd, belonging to the series of the lanthanides, of atomic number 66 and atomic mass 157,25. It is a little reactive element, it is stable in dry air but in the presence of humid air it reacts by fogging. They have two allotropic forms; the beta, with a cubic structure centered in the body, passes to the alpha form below 1235ºC. The alpha form is a ductile, malleable and ferromagnetic silvery white metal at low temperatures. |
