Deuterium |
| Isotope of hydrogen whose atomic nucleus consists of a proton and a neutron. It is also called heavy hydrogen and is symbolized as D. It represents 0.015% of the total hydrogen. The chemical properties of deuterium are the same as that of normal hydrogen, but some physical properties differ. |
