Dehydrogenation |
| Reaction that involves the loss of hydrogen. It is carried out at elevated temperatures and in the presence of catalysts. The most important drshidrogenation is that of alkanes. It is also used in the conversion of alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. Some dehydrogenations, such as the formation of stable aromatic systems, do not require high temperatures. |
