Filtration |
| Method of separation of a pure liquid or solution containing an insoluble solid substance by a porous material called a filter. The filtration rate depends on the size of the pores, the temperature of the mixture and the pressure exerted on the surface. It can be increased by external aspiration of the air if the vessel that collects the filtrate is connected to a vacuum pump. |
