X-ray spectrum |
| Spectrum of discontinuous emission resulting from the excitation of heavy metals. Energy is produced by a source of cathode rays that is absorbed by the electrons closest to the nucleus, which allows them to migrate to more external levels. In turn, the empty spaces are occupied by electrons from the outer layers, which fall into places of less energy emitting X radiation. Each element has different X-ray series. |
