Oxygen

Chemical element of symbol O, belonging to group 16 of the periodic table, of atomic number 8 and atomic mass 15,999. It is the most abundant element of the earth's crust, it is presented as a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. The molecule is formed by two oxygen atoms linked by a very strong covalent double bond, with paramagnetic behavior. It is used in the steel industry for the manufacture of steel, in the chemical industry to give rise to a large number of oxygenated compounds, such as methanol, in the aerospace industry as fuel, in welding and medicine.
