Hybridization

Combination of atomic orbitals of different types, although of similar energies and with wide possibilities of superposition, which give rise to intermediate orbitals called hybrid orbitals. Hybridization is a theoretical explanation of the actual behavior of atoms in a chemical reaction, but they do not mean that they actually exist. You get as many hybrid orbitals as atomic orbitals intervene.
